If not, it’s not a big deal, because in Indonesia, there are hundreds of kinds of sambal. Sambal is basically an Indonesian chili sauce or paste, typically made from a mixture of a variety of chili peppers with secondary ingredients such as shrimp paste, garlic, ginger, shallot, scallion, palm sugar, tomatoes, or just about anything that you feel like adding. Sambal is an Indonesian loanword of Javanese origin.

Most people think that spiciness is a must for sambal. In fact, it is not! Talking about hundreds of kinds of sambal from all around Indonesia, of course, some of them can be less spicy than the common ones. Not to forget that Indonesia has more than 300 ethnic groups scattered all around 17,000 islands. As far as I know, there’s no place or ethnic group in Indonesia that does not have sambal on their menu.

Each sambal has a very unique taste representing the culture and rich natural resources from different ethnic groups. It is even said that you can travel the Indonesian archipelago by indulging your taste buds (eating sambal) from somewhere else. That’s how unique they are!

Selamat pagi! おはようございます !

Sesuai dengan post sebelumnya, kali ini kami melakukan perjalanan ke arah Bedugul. Tujuan sebenarnya adalah mengunjungi teman baik kami yang hotelnya baru selesai dan masih soft-opening, lokasinya pas sekali di tepian Danau Beratan. Tapi sebelum kesana kami mampir sana sini dulu sekalian wisata kuliner dan lainnya.

Pagi itu hari Kamis kita berangkat mengikuti Google Maps saja sambil mencari tempat makan brunch karena di rumah kita sudah sempat ngopi secangkir espresso. Karena hari kamis, perjalanan kami ke atas (Bedugul) tidak terlalu macet, hanya di daerah Denpasarnya saja seperti biasa, padat merayap.

Setelah kenyang kami melanjutkan perjalanan ke arah Bedugul tapi sebelumnya akan mampir juga untuk cek jadwal buka Kebun Raya (Bali Botanic Garden) di Bedugul.

前回の記事で宣言した通り、今回の旅はブドゥグル地区を目指します。
本来の目的はブラタン湖畔に建つホテル。建設が終わったばかりでソフトオープン中の友人を（邪魔しにw）訪ねることです。
しかし、旅の醍醐味は目的地へ向かうこと以外にもたくさんありますよね。
そう、寄り道こそが旅の醍醐味だったり。

当日の朝は家で目覚めのエスプレッソを飲み、いざ出発。
ブランチを食べられる場所を探しながらGoogleマップと睨めっこが始まりました。
平日だったこともあり、ブドゥグル地区までは渋滞に巻き込まれることもなくスムーズでしたが、デンパサール市内はいつも通りの混雑。
ヌサドゥア方面から車で約1時間、メングイ地区に差しかかったので待望のブランチです。

お腹も満たされたので旅を再開！
ホテルまでの道中、そう、旅の醍醐味を計画し、ブドゥグルの植物園へ寄り道することに。
